My new Oreocryptophis Porphyraceus Coxi (Thai Bamboo Ratsnake)

ok i have been pining after these for awhile now. i've seen only a handful of adults (no neonates or juvies tho) at the local expo's and the last pair i saw in October had broken striping. i just wanted a clean, classic fully striped example. my local mom and pop pet shop got a juvie last year, a feisty one, but i waited a lil too long and someone else snapped it up. i saw another juvie in a reptile shop a few towns over but the markup was crazy, so i passed. but last week, my fav mom and pop shop got another one - a friendly, fully striped neonate! i just love their red-orange colors, clean white bellies, and black striping.

anyways! so this is Sriracha, my new Oreocryptophis Porphyraceus Coxi (Thai Bamboo Ratsnake). i name my BP's after Wicked/Wizard of Oz stuff and name my Colubrids after food and drinks. so i thought naming him after the Sriracha hot sauce b/c of his Thai ancenstry was fitting. he's the friendliest Coxi i've met so far but who knows, maybe Sriracha will grow into a feisty lil snake full of spice and attitude lol.

i handled him last week and he was in his hide. where is he now? under the water bowl! aww lil thing is so scurred!

    Cupholder Snek:

hello bb! a quick peek while i set up:

    gonna get booped!

    booped!

i broke the tray for my scale, so imma just weigh the whole deli cup w/ him in it and we it again w/o him.

    43 minus 24 equals 19. Sriracha is a teeny, tiny 19grams.

    here he is!

i think he's quite handsome! (i think he might be going into shed)

    such a lil worm.

he's gonna be in a 6quart tub which actually seems huge for him until he puts on some size! welcome home my new lil man!

    Great name!

How's his personality so far? Feisty?

Edit - sorry - he's nice, missed that. Still love the name and hope he doesn't earn it by getting feisty later.

Awesome little guy, and they’re so pretty! I forget what tiny noodles they start out as.
