The hoggie permit is easy to get, it’s just terrible to find the appropriate information! I blame Central Mis-Management Services, they dictate How Thou Shalt Set Up Agency Webpages (I work for a different part of DNR). And you can buy the snake first and submit a copy of the receipt to get the permit! Lessee, I should have the information in my e-mail, root root root . . . Nope, but I’ve found it before, I *can* do it again! Dig dig dig . . . .Here we go:

    https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/conserv...Possession.pdf

    And the general information page:
    https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/espb/pa...entaltake.aspx
The web pages mention annual reports, never been asked for one for my husband’s hoggie, that may only be for the non-hobby permits.

I’m not sure if anybody here in the Bartlett office can answer permit-specific questions, but you can try Nicky Strahl, 847-608-3122, she’s the wildlife person here.

EDIT: ALRIGHT you guys, here's the deal. zina just got her beautiful Crested Gecko, and i'm pretty sure she still wants a Hognose. i want both, buuuuut i think i'm leaning towards the hognose first. this way, the forum can watch us both complain how it's all your fault and share our new qt pies. i'm already in the works for another ball (shoot me) and after that, will likely begin seriously looking into a Hognose (trickier than you think when you live in a state where they're banned without permit).

<- This time I am not to blame

Baby season is right around the corner with hognose I have a feeling there will be at least two more new owners this year.
