    That is a given for giant species, like in your photo. But we're just talking about 6-6.5 foot carpets/snakes around that size range, which don't require multiple people to handle and won't take you out.

    I definitely recommend Serpwidgets for measuring your snake. Just put them on a flat enough surface, place a ruler or something down next to them, and get a picture from directly above them when they are in one layer (doesn't have to be straightened out.) You can put this picture into their website and just define the ruler and draw a line along your snake and it calculates their length.
