    Problem with cord for Rhp

I have an AP T8 cage with an 80 watt rhp. The issue is where the power cord exits the cage on the back wall. My boa occasionally crawls up on the wire and thru the space left between the cord and the ceiling.

I'm afraid he is going to damage the rhp connection.

    Anyone else deal with this??

I bought some cable/wire clamps but virtually have no room to work inside the T8. Ugh. This is the middle cage sandwiched between two other T8s so I don't want to have to take everything down.

    Any other suggestions.

Not sure where your panel is positioned. Because of that exact issue i had AP route my LED'S all the way against the back wall as far as their machine would allow so that I could mount the RHP against it so the cord has no slack and goes strait out the back.
As far as your situation i had something similar with a Thermometer probe wire once and I found plastic clips at Lowes. The PVC is 1/2" so dont use a screw that goes more than 1/4" in after it goes threw the clip into the PVC. You might have to replace the screw that comes with it depending what one you choose. Here are a few that are different but all the same idea.

I think this one is the best. Make sure the gauge is large enough for the size cord you have on the RHP.

This one sticks out more I think. I prefer the first one.

This one is thin and you can Crimp it closed to make it tight. If you use these id crimp then before you screw them in. Its hard to get to after screwed to the enclosure.

Hope this gives you a idea

Re: Problem with cord for Rhp

My rhp is about 1.5 inches from the back wall. The instructions said to leave space from any walls.

Those clips is what I bought. It's just so hard to climb in there to put them in. I tried and gave up. It's just so awkward ugh

You are outta luck and will have to break the stack down and remove the top on the offending cage lol. I have to replace the lights in my middle T25 and i have been procrastinating as i really dont feel like lifting Caesar's cage off the stack and moving it. T25s are not that light and even worse, they are very unwieldy since they are 72x30. Luckily Vicky is a sunglow so i'm sure she doesnt mind the dimmed lighting in her cage haha.

Id be in there on my back before I pulled it apart because I like doing things the hard way hahaha.
Maybe pull a table up to it so you can lay on your back and into the cage.. Then just use a Cordless to zip one in?

My JCP is notorious for doing this.....the only thing I can think of is to drill two holes and zip tie the cord to the top of the cage. Personally, I just left it be though. I didn't want to drill holes in my cage.

Here is a lazy mans idea... and seemingly my idea to all lately ...

    fake plants ??

can you fill the hole with plants or something so that he can’t get in it ?

if you get a nice piece or something to plug it. Even wood or a branch now that loop is no longer a swinging Monkey bar?

    Just a thought.

Re: Problem with cord for Rhp

You may be on to something there. I so do not want to take down all my tanks to get to this tank. I was in there this weekend trying so hard to work in the small confined space. Trying to hold the anchor/screw and screwdriver - let me tell ya - by the end of it I was cussing up a storm. LOL

Gave up. Maybe I will try again this weekend. He only does this once in awhile but I think doing it all is not good on the wire attached to the RHP.

Re: Problem with cord for Rhp

Just thought of something - what about a stiff piece of aquarium filter sponge cut to slip over the cord and fill the gap to the ceiling - that may work??
