I still have time until next week, but I kind of put this together last night.

Again, little one is a Juvie, 10 gr.

Its kind of hard to see, but there is actually quite a bit of greenery in the back. I plan on keeping the moss in the coconut moist. there are feeding bowls on the ground as well as up on a ledge. The stick leads up to the ledge. I can also put a short toilet paper roll or some egg crate in the front, where it is more open, if its to exposed..

The only thing is that I need to take everything out to clean, but I would have to do that no matter how much or how little is in there. Its not hard to do, but the gecko would need to be out of it when I change paper towels.

Already got all the food, etc.

Thoughts?












by the way that LED light is a very dim blue battery powered light, won't be on all the time..

Looks like a good setup! Baby/young cresties do great in critter keepers. I had mine set up with cork bark flat and egg crates, they love to climb around. They also love to randomly jump into the void lol so keep a good eye on your lil one when out. They are faster than expected sometimes. Such adorable little guys.

Yes, I'm wondering what to do with him when I clean the enclosure ? Or how to get him out easily (if possibly he doesn't want to, LOL)

I've seen someone build a little "jungle gym" with branches and greenery to put the geckos on while cleaning, but I'm afraid to turn around and ...no gecko!!! So perhaps another critter keeper?

Just HOW fast are they? Lets say one jumps off of me and lands on the floor or bed (I'll be low to ground) how fast can they take off? I have visions of them being as fast as the lizards outside, flash, they're gone !!!

Yup, I used another empty critter keeper or deli cup to hold mine in when cleaning, you don't want to set him anywhere loose.
Pretty fast little scuttle butts. I had an incident that was almost bad, was sitting on floor and he jumped and zoomed off, I was able to leap over and cup my hand over him before my cat got there (cat was on it!). That was really scary as I hadn't expected the gecko to take off like that. What I started doing was taking him out in the bathroom and sitting in the tub, letting him jump and crawl all over me, to start gaining trust and so I could learn myself how they moved. (covered the drain of course) (I ended up donating mine to my herp society for a benefit for USARK a few years back). They are awesome geckos.

With their sticky pads, can't they just run right up the side of the tub, though? Not that this would be such a tragedy, if I close the bathroom doors.

I have never had issues during storms whether it was with crested or other geckos.

As far as tail goes if he loses it's tail it will be purely cosmetic, no big deal, I had one losing it's tail once as I opened the deli cup upon receiving it, it happens not much you can do, but if you don't restrain him when handling (always keep you hand open and anticipate where he will jump and put your other hand in front of you) and if you don't breed him the chances are he will keep his tail.

Relax I know you will do well, the aprehensioon is normal when you own a new species.

The tank looks perfect, I had Pocket in something like that for a while Is he here yet? When are you expecting him? But most importantly: Do you have a name picked out??
