    Boas and Food

I was wondering. I have my boa out when I’m cooking or sometimes I even let him explore the living room while I’m cooking. Are there any foods I should not take him out if I’m cooking? Last thing I would want is a feeding response bite lol. My friend opened a can of clams and I swear my boa is acting really strange almost like he’s like oooh what’s that!?

I would avoid cooking fish or fowl as these are part of a boa's natural diet.

Stick to baking breads and pastries.

Make sure you wash your hands well after handling meats or poultry or more so rats. I made the mistake twice and paid for it by a BP latching onto my finger all the way up to the first knuckle and trying to drag it into her hide and by a nicely bruised hand from Vicky spinning around and latching onto my hand.

    Veggies then.

I did come home once from a crab feast and cleaned out my snake room later that day, and had a king snake show way too much interest in my crabby-smelling fingers.

Some years back I collected a 7 foot long boa constrictor from an apartment. Seems that a college student had his boa out, went to answer his phone, and then couldn't find the snake. Several weeks after the student moved out, the snake reappeared. The new tenants were not happy about it. Things like that explain why I have a firm policy of never taking a snake out when I cannot keep an eye on it.

Haha, sometimes when I’m watching one of my snakes when they are out it is like watching paint dry.

Then, if I get up to put something in the microwave or the like, I hear crashing and breaking. They always are getting into something that they shouldn’t be.

But at the same time that is what makes them so fun, their curious nature.

Sorry I mean I do check on him like every minute. My kitchen is literally 3 steps from the living room and my house has like no clutter so there isn’t really anywhere for him to get stuck in, other than maybe the couch. I was just worried about getting bit. I guess I’ll just keep him put away. Sometimes I feel like all I do is eat all day haha. Out of all the times I’ve had him out so far with food, he only really showed interest with the clams lol.
