    This Wood Good?

I saw these wood bird perches at Petco the other day... and was wondering if anyone knows what sort of wood it is, and if its safe for a bp enclosure. Nowhere on the label, or product listing online, does it show what kind of wood it is. Seems like they might be nice for a young bp, or the kingsnake enclosure.

Here's the Petco link to the product:
    https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcos...ood-bird-perch

    Looks like this:
    0.1 Mexican Black Kingsnake (Tynee)
    0.1 BEL Ball (Luna)
    0.1 Sunglow Boa (Pippi Longsnake)
    0.1 Woma Python (Uma)

    WANT LIST
    - Mangrove Snake

    - Russian Rat Snake
    - Eastern Indigo
    - Black Milk Snake
    - False Water Cobra
    - Rhino Rat Snake
    - Thai Bamboo Rat Snake
    - Western Hognose
    - Kenyan Sand Boa

General rule is if it's made out of hardwood, it's reptile safe. The description says it's made from birch wood. You're in the clear.

I might be blind but I read that over a couple times. Says Hard wood, and Bird Perch. Never saw the word Birch Wood. Maybe the phone doesn't show a full description.

The You & Me All Natural Hardwood Bird Perch easily attaches to your pet's habitat wire thanks to its washer and wingnut kit. You can help stimulate and exercise your bird's feet and legs by partnering it with other perch sizes and styles.
    • Can be paired with a range of perch sizes to benefit your bird's foot health
    • Natural Hardwood Bird Perch from You & Me
    • Easy to install thanks to the metal bolt and wingnut fastener and washers include
    Apparently it's hardwood

Yea... I saw HARDWOOD, but never saw birch or anything else. Birch would of been good. I might just give it a try.

Still says Hard Wood so im sure its fine. What i hate is that garbage " National Geographic" brand Plastic junk at Petsmart ect. ... It beaks like glass when it cracks. I broke one cleaning it in the tub and it cut me like a razor. Great stuff for reptiles
I use all PVC now and paint it brown for climbing. I use shower curtain rod holders (plastic ones at lowes $1.99) to suspend them.

Never thought about the shower rods... Assume you mean the tension rods? Gotta try those as well.

What I've run into is that wood products always get pooed on over the years and you almost always toss them so when I do grab sticks, I usually end up just finding some hardwood branches, stripping the bark, and then baking them to sanitize. That's just me though. Pine and softwoods have sap....so that's a no-no
