Are those temps a typo?? If not, they're way too high.

His temps on the Hot Side are 94-96. Not only is that too Hot but heat tape would be absolute overkill on a T10 with a large radiant heat panel.

If you’re going to use two heat sources in your setup, I’d definitely recommend each one being on a thermostat. In that case, the Herpstat 2 would be perfect and was similar to the configuration I was using with the glass tank.

    94/96 Is to Hot.
Lower your Herpstat so the cool side is 76/78 and that will give you 78/80 on top of your cool Side hide which will radiate into the snakes body and that should produce the Max 91° you want on your Hot Side Hide.
RHP's warm the items in the enclosure so check the Hide Tops as that is what will radiate onto your snakes body if you compare it with a laser after it has hours to regulate.
    Great setup and accessories.

Sorry didn't even see the temp. With normal temps I would have heat tape for belly heat. 94-96 is way to high. I agree.

My enclosures are heated to the same temp Heat Tape would be identical too. A RHP on a small enclosure like a T8/T10's heat everything including the PVC floor creating the Belly heat as well as ambient. Also he said his house doesn't get under 70. Trust me that snake has belly heat and then some hahaha. I take a laser and push it down on the snakes body, i get the exact temp the Herpstat and the thermometers read. The only time it will differ is when you clean the enclosure. Then it will take 15/30min to regulate again. This is all based on the fact your RHP is the correct size or larger of course and the house is heated.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, that was a typo, that's what I get for hammering out ridiculously long threads on my phone. I was originally using the care sheet's recommendation of 80-84/88-94. In fact, if you zoom in on that big overview picture you can see my labels on the bottom of the cage and the temp on that Accurite is at 90°. I did however just dial it back a few degrees as this morning it was sitting at 95°

As for a heating tape, absolutely not necessary in my setup.. I have no problem maintaining temperatures, even ones that are apparently too high.

    Thanks again!

Wow, your son is one lucky boy to have a father like you. So nice to see a parent fostering your child's interest in the hobby by giving him the best equipment for greater chance of success. Kudos to you.

Your setup looks great. I have a T10 on my list when I upgrade my boa.

    Congrats.

Glad to hear the RHP is doing the trick w/o the need for Flexwatt. Are you having to make sure the room temp is at a certain temp for the RHP to provide the temps you need? What size RHP did you go with?

*** EDIT: sorry just reread and saw you keep your house in the low 70s ***

Curious how big your BP is? Mine is on the smaller size (350ish) so I'll be trying to clutter the enclosure w/ hides, etc.. to reduce the stress of a larger living space.

Any special adhering techniques for the greenery? My BP bulldozes what I'm using now but it's to be expected because it's just laying in their on top of brown paper substrate.

Also noticed, you have two Accurite humidity and ambient temp units on each side? Is their a need for this??

    Thanks!!
Not sure of the size the RHP is to be honest, it didn't come with any sort of documentation. I just went one size up from what Bob at Pro Products recommended as I would rather have the extra wattage and not need it than the other way around.

As for securing the greenery, most of it is the vine type so I just tucked some of it behind the hides. He's never been really destructive on his nightly prowls and so far he's keeping everything in place.

Have the two separate Accurite just so I can have a clear understanding on what each side of the temperature gradient is doing. They a dirt cheap, so having one as a backup is a little reassuring too, and I have lots of space for it.

As for Leo's size, he's still under 300 grams. I thought seriously about picking up the T-10 cage divider as well but decided to just fill it with lots of hides and clutter instead. Now that I have it, I'm not even sure a divider would have worked as the RHP is so large. With six different hides placed throughout the temperature gradient and with the cork flats and greenery I feel he has adequate cover plus the light is only turned on for about an hour a day for viewing and maintenance.

Still trying to figure out the best way to secure the Herpstate temperature probe. I drilled a small home into the rear of the cage to accommodate the wire, but right now I have it just kind of dangling from the back. Would prefer to secure it somehow to prevent him from getting to it and throwing off the temperature. Thought about hot gluing it but not sure how well that will work as there is not a lot of texture on the walls for the glue to take hold to. Would prefer not to use silicon as it takes so long to dry and for the fumes to air out. So that's today's project.

I secured my probes to the back wall with little tiny c-clamps. They go over the probe wire and then screw into the back wall. Very secure.

I got mine at lowes in the electrical department I believe.

Just went and searched my emails, he originally recommended the 65watt, I upgrade to the 88watt unit. It's seems to be a great combo!
