    Snakes about town

I've seen people on hot days take their BPs out with them and just let them chill around their necks when they go out during the day. What are your opinions on the safety of this practice for your snake?

I fail to see the benefit, for person or snake.

1# No benefit to the snake

2# We are already under tremendous scrutiny and have been for over a decade with one laws after another trying to take our rights away, no need to get more unwanted attention.

People going out and about with their snake around their snake do it for one thing and one thing only ATTENTION, even those that try to justify it.

    Re: Snakes about town

Aside from lack of benefit. It can also scare people. Having reptiles is an uphill battle because of fear and ignorance as it is.

All we need is for someone to get scared and call their politician!

I am all for exposing people to snakes/reptiles an erasing fear and ignorance. However, in a controlled environment and when people are willing.

I value my animals too much.
Not worth the stress and potential whatevers that could happen to them.

    Re: Snakes about town

My kiddo and I took her snake to a deserted park to get grass/ real light pictures. Very short distance, and my house has rock not grass. No issues with people, but definitely had a stress effect in the snake. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I will take mine out occasionally on my PRIVATE yard, on a very warm day, and they do enjoy soaking in the sun and hiding in the grass. It is just for very short, supervised sessions. (No walking around town with one on my neck.) Key word here is PRIVATE. The snake feels secure and safe, with no potential predators around. Plus, there are no people to scream or call animal control.

I'll say this. The guy I saw get tagged right under his eye from having his Ball around his neck around a bunch of people on the Beach Strip got what he deserved.

I really wish I had a yard to do this. It's the only reason I'd take Maze outside -- definitely not for a stroll around town. We're planning on moving in a little over a year, so hopefully she'll get to experience grass soon! :').
