Overly active baby or normal?

I got a baby corn that is super active, which i know is kinda typical for a young corn but it keeps going around the perimeter of the 10 gal tank. i got all sides covered with newspaper so it feels more secure but just wont stop moving lol. Now there was a few hours where it settled down into its hot hide and actually took a pinky i offered it but shortly after it was back on the move.
Im not experienced in corns btw, this is my very first one.

A lot of mine were fairly active when they were young. They would patrol the perimeter of their tanks and have the bedding cleared away in a little path. That is a good time to go in and fix the bedding and lay some of your scent down so they can get use to you. Mine have also liked to wedge themselves between the tank and screen. Once they got older they settled down some and got into a more weekly routine where they would sleep for several days after feeding and be move active as it got closer to their scheduled feeding day.

^ this has been my experience as well. when my guy first came home he was SUPER active; constantly patrolling and somehow skating along the screen top edges. once we got into our schedule he settled down. now, some days i don't see him unless i'm doing stuff around the enclosure and he hears the ruckus.

They all have their own personalities, but cruising the tank is not out of the realm of normal.

Make sure temps are good.

Sometimes they cruise when they are not comfortable and are looking for a better spot.

If the temps are all good, and hides are adequate, and he/she is being fed properly, than the snake is just doing its thing.

yeah i picked him up because he seemed extra alert and healthy. im mostly concerned if he can rub his nose scales off on the glass like some lizards do.
im using a uth, the warm hide is 85°under substrate and 80-83°above. the rest of the tank is room temp, exactly 70°.
im using an empty cool whip container with 2 entrances cut out.

an i know 70° is a bit too cool but ive heard people say 70° is okay. planning on picking up a small 40w che to make him a bit more comfortable

The lowest should be 75-77F for a corn.

I have a hot spot of 84-86F, ambient around 77-78, and a 77 cool spot.

If it's that cold, you might want to wait until you have a CHE before feeding. They can regurgitate if temps are not good.

no problem, i have put a 40w CHE over the tank this morning. ambiant temp is now 80°. i should get something to lift the lamp up a little higher.

Sounds good.

I would keep ambient around 76-78F.

Once you get the temps dialed in, your corn should eat like a pig!

got the temps dialed in perfect now, 85-88 hotspot, 77 in the mid and goes down to 72-73 on the very coolest spot.
my corn is now much calmer in the tank and is utilizing all hides and branches. it still freaks out a bit when i attempt to handle but its still very young.
