Re: BP won’t move from the top of his hide

I lowered the temp to 85 degrees and still nothing he sits on top anyway there's no poop in there I didn't see anything in there when I checked and he hasn't eaten in over a week since everyone told me to skip last Wednesday because he hasn't acclimated yet ill try feeding him on Wednesday and when he does(hopefully) after 2-3 days ill take him to a vet for a consult just to make sure everything's okay

Seems very odd to lie on top of such a uncomfortable curved surface ... given their love of hiding away during the daytime ..

Treat yourself to a ten dollar digital temp gun off eBay ... it's just one more layer of insurance to ensure the temps aren't too high or low - great for testing in random spots / places ...

Re: BP won’t move from the top of his hide

In my experience, which isn't a lot and I'm surprised no one has asked but what size Viv do you have? What type of Viv and what source of heat? Also, what else do you have in the Viv?

I own 2 BP, one is a 3 yr old 3 ft female and a 18month old boy. My girl was very shy and withdrawn when I first got her, I realized what was wrong with her about a week later, her Viv was to empty and she felt unsecure. So I brought a log and fake plants etc to make it more natural and packed, ever since then (obviously brought a bigger Viv since) but she has loved it, she also has 2 actual dome hides but my boy, he won't sleep in anything other than logs!? No idea why.

Maybe I missed it, but it seems like you have made no mention whatsoever of the distinction between the hotspot of the enclosure and the ambient temps. I am surprised nobody else saw it.
You need TWO heating sources, TWO thermostats and TWO thermometers ideally. This was the hardest thing for me to understand and implement properly as a python keeper.

    1) UTH, with thermostat set to 88-92 F,
    2) ambient air heat source, with thermostat on the cool side set to 78-82 F

    I just read
,"I have a Zilla thermostat and it’s set at around 88 or 30 Celsius I have two thermometers one outside the tank connected to the UTH and a different one inside that’s on on bottom glass in the hot spot and the thermostat probe is next to the thermometer probe that’s in the cage and the thermometer inside reads 91.2 while the one on the UTH reads 90.0
Not very clear at all, what are the air temps? what are the hotspot temps? Any distinction?
