Yeah that is perfect gradient.. Its the 95F that Im not comfortable with.

Re: The Kaiju thread - CB17 female Pearl Burmese Python

Kaiju was in blue for a whole week and finally shed today, so I fed her tonight for the first time in 2 weeks. I had 3 weaner rats left over before I can start feeding the small rats I bought. So I thought I'd see if she would eat them all - which she did easily.

I fed her the last 3 weaners at once because she hadn't eaten in 2 weeks and showed interest in eating them all. This snake hatched in August and I've always gone by the "one prey item equal to the snake's girth per week" rule. But I've seen people feeding burms much bigger prey items than this.

The first pic is before and the second pic is after eating. That's an Exo Terra large hide for size reference.

Does it look like too much food or should I actually start feeding her bigger than small rats next time? I'm not sure what the optimum size is here.

Re: The Kaiju thread - CB17 female Pearl Burmese Python

I fed 3 the other night because they were smaller and it would equal the correct size prey.. Nothing wrong with that.
As far is moving up in prey size I would stick to the rule prey size the girth of the thickest part of your Burm. They can and will eat a bit larger than that but I don't like pushing. Because of the rapid growth of Burms i always stuck to a normal feeding schedule/size. I never maintenance feed and I never power feed... These animals grow fast enough without thinking they need to be fed more often or larger. In the 90s we all fed every 3 to 4 weeks proper sized prey and you didn't see these grossly thick snakes like you do today that can hardly get out of their own way hahahahaha.

Your Burm wont eat once a week once it is an adult. Of course some Burm are gluttonous and do eat when ever fed but they crap and piss all over because they are not using all of that nutrients. After a year id go to at least every 2 weeks.. Once my Albino Burm was 3 he refused most of the time if i offered before 3 weeks.. Over the last 15 years its been once a month during Spring/Summer and 6-8 weeks fall/winter.

Little bit of an update, Kaiju moved onto small rats this Friday. Here's a side by side of her from December and now 3 months later
