Well it's certainly been a while since this thread has been updated, hasn't it?
Horatio is 3.5 years old now, and I continue to be extremely happy with him. I can't remember the last time he refused a meal, and in fact, he's a regular unrepetant fatty, always looking for food if I walk into his room without turning the light on first. I usually don't need to hit his rats with the hairdryer anymore, as warming them up in water seems to be enough for him to snatch them up right at the cage door!
As of this year he's hit a smidge over 1,000 grams, despite being fed every other week at most (and sometimes every three weeks, because 2021 has been the year from heck thus far...). He's very sweet and hasn't even hissed at me in years, even when handled during shed. The advent of Zoom staff meetings means that he's made an appearance at least once, to the joy of most of my coworkers, several of whom inquire about him frequently. He's a good little advocate for serpent-kind, and a very handsome one at that. He's gotten a bit braver as well, and often times pokes his head out of his hide to observe my yoga time.
No regrets.
