Will my snake get an RI?

Okay. So literally like 2 minutes ago my IR heating bulb for my ball python, Ramen, ran out. And me being the idiot that I am, instead of buying spare 75w bulbs (trust me my house is freezing so we need them!) I bought spare 50s. So he has a 50w bulb in now, and whilst the viv isn’t as cool as it would be, it’s still way cooler than I am comfortable with (currently reading at 72.0F). I won’t be able to get another bulb for around another 5 hrs since I don’t drive, and so can’t get to my local pet store in time. But could this temperature cause an RI in five hours? I really don’t want him to get sick, and right before the bulb went out it was reading at 78.4F, so I’m hoping that he will be okay. He moved into his warm hide while I was changing the bulb (I was being really slow and careful cos it had actually cracked and I didn’t want to smash it into my hand), and has since moved back onto the cool side. Surely if he got too cool he’d just move back to the warm hide?

Re: Will my snake get an RI?

I really doubt your ball python will catch in RI if it's only 5 hours. If you're really concerned maybe ball put blanket over the terrarium or/and put a hot water bottle (outside) on the side of the cage (don't make it too hot).
And if he's too cold, he'll probably just go back into his warm hide. Just remember to buy a spare heat lamp for the next time

You'll be fine. Know, one is none.

I am curious to why you don't drive? I've noticed the younger generation don't care to drive like we did when I turned of age. We couldn't wait to get our license. Maybe with the introduction of social media and internet shopping the need is not as great.

I'm not trying to get too personal and if it's a medical issue or something you don't care to discuss I understand.

You will be fine. Your snake definitely won't nd up with an RI in five hours.

Maybe you could make the cool side inaccessible until you get your new bulb... What are you keeping him in? What are you using for heat on the warm side? What is the temperature on the warm side? What is the humidity in the enclosure?

Re: Will my snake get an RI?

Thanks for answering. My warm side is heated using a UTH, and a heat lamp to bump up the ambient temps. It is regulated with a thermostat, and against the glass the temperature reads as 91.2F. I have two thermometers (proper ones with probes not those rubbish dials), one on the hot side and one on the cool side, and a heat gun to more accurately read the temps. I also have hides on both sides. The humidity is reading as 64% currently.
