Re: New Burm! "Dexter " the Pearl Burmese python progression thread

It's certainly an interesting occurrence as to what he's doing. ....he'll slither up to the rat on the tongs quickly as he knows it's food, but then he won't strike. So I end up just putting the rat on the cage floor in front of him where he'll circle it a few times and then eat it without wrapping at all.

Doesn't seem to bother him at all, but what IS concerning is that he still hasn't pooped yet since I've gotten him. Not once. He's dropped plenty of piss and urates but he still has yet to poop. I'm thinking it just has to do with the growth rate from the time they're hatchlings. I know snakes that have fast growth rates will practically absorb rodents during the hatchling stage, but still....kind of odd he hasn't dropped one yet. He doesn't appear to be constipated or inactive at all so I don't think it should be a concern. He has a basking spot easily sufficient for digestion and he uses it after every meal.
