Both have red tails, it’s just that one is darker than the other.. lol
Actually it has been changed. They are considered separate species now. BCC has been changed to Boa Constrictor and BCI has been changed to Boa Imperator. Old dogs like me though still call them BCI and BCC although technically they are now BC and BI.

Just call it a Colombian Boa. And just a FYI, it cant be a Columbian Boa because Columbia are cities in the US

What kind of Boa Constrictor do I have?
Some of them Guyana’s are just spectacular colour that’s for sure some people might think there a morph with how colourful they are
I agree that papers can easily be faked and I guess a lot of your snakes are wild caught in the USA so most collectors wanting to make some easy money will say there from a more desirable area which generally hold there money better I guess,
suppose snakes don’t know the borders and often cross locality ,I would say most people who want a bcc or bc would go to reputable breeder well I would anyway,Most of them in the U.K. do anyway ,my bcl parents was imported in from Germany and they had there papers

Yeah there are a few reputalbe breeders here in the states. The ones i can think of are Chris Wolf who got all his stock from Gus Rentfro or Vin Russo, Vin Russo, Mike Lucchesi, Brian Vuillemenboa. I believe Brian or Mike recently had a litter of Venezualen BCC which are pretty rare in the trade. Think Chris Wolf has a breeding pair of those too. Then there are also people like Skip Frye, Russel La Fleur and Star Shaffer who breed some outstanding BCC stuff but not for the the locality, more for traits like Skip and his Mega Peak stuff.

Haha opposite for me. When i was a kid, there was no PVC cages or Herpstats or fancy stuff like that. You had to build your own stuff from sheeting plywood and use rheostats for heating lol. But i agree, when i was a kid, a boa was a boa. I never really knew the difference. I was just happy to have a snake or lizard or frog or salamander or newt

Re: What kind of Boa Constrictor do I have?
Things was was deffinetly easier, I had my first snake back in the 80s for my 13th birthday it was a grey rat snake , my dad And i made that out of ply and glass, with just a bulb for heat source, I had her for 17years so wasn’t that bad she was never ill either the only problem I had was I brought as a male called rowland and then she laid eggs after about 5years so obviously wasn’t a male lol, so ended up calling her Roberta,
My corn island boas parents was imports from vin Russo

Haha yeah i had a ball python that i kept in a 55 gallon tank with a screen lid and heat lamps. I had him over 10 years before i ended up rehoming him and he was fine. He would have bad sheds here and there which i had to soak him in the sink and use a washcloth to run him through but otherwise he was fine. People worry too much about snakes. They are freakin tough little buggers.

I think that BCI,s have a red tail. Its not brown or orange for sure. Its not as dark red as the BCC,s. They added the term "true red tail" to distinguish BCC from BCI which confuses newer people even more.
