My FedEx delivery is delayed. Help! I need encouragement

I ordered a 400g female albino. Was shipped Thursday with promised time yesterday Friday at noon. Due to weather in Memphis I'll now get her Monday!!! She has a 40hr heat pack and air holes. What are the chances of her making it to me alive?

    Well, one never knows.

It depends on how cold it gets where she is "stored" and on a few other factors.

I wish your breeder would have heeded the warnings about this nasty front going through, FedEx and UPS often have delays when there is wet and freezing stormy weather. But what's done is done.

Is there anyway you can pick her up Monday morning ? Or today ? Fedex works on Saturdays. Can you or the breeder advise them of the problem and ask them to PLEASE put her in a temperature controlled room until delivery?

What does the breeder say about it all ?

24 hours delay if well pack is not an issue, (happened to me 6 times in a year, however if it was not delivered yesterday it will be delivered monday which is why no shipping should be done on Thursday unless directly ship to a hub which means the animal would then be available on Saturday morning at your hub if delayed.

Seeing the delay the breeder should have request a hold at the hub so the animal would be available to this morning for pickup if it was not done and could not be done it will not arrive before Monday which is a big issue (that's 4.5 days in a box)

Where is the animal now? Has the breeder been communicating with you?

Live animal shipping should only be done Monday through Wednesday, in case of a delay. NEVER ship right before the weekend... (EDIT: just saw Deborah's advice about shipping hub, great idea) If the animal dies, I would get a refund of course. And notify the seller that other breeders have recommended never shipping after a Wednesday.

That is your best hope, what Deborah said, make some calls and see where the animal is currently located, and try to go pick it up there.

I actually ordered and paid for 2 female ball python breeders over a month ago, and still haven't had them shipped to me, as I am waiting for the weather to warm up.

I am hoping you get your snake healthy and live SOON! Good luck!

This, a million times this. Go now and see if you can pick it up where held. You should always ship according to weather and with the winter storm we had this should never have been shipped. If you go fast enough you might be able to make the fed ex location before they close.

This is definitely a brutal winter to be shipping reptiles! I shelled out $800.00 for a pair of Retics over a month ago that I may end up not being able to get until Spring... It sucks, but the animal's safe journey is what is most important. The weather just isn't cooperating. We ended up having 3 or 4 days of 50 - 63 degree weather here in Pittsburgh, PA this past week, but the days it warmed up here the temperatures plummeted down to the single digits in Nebraska where these guys are coming from...

Anyway, I hope everything works out and you get your snake safe and sound!

Re: My FedEx delivery is delayed. Help! I need encouragement

I had 2 lil ones that were delayed a day due to stormy weather. The breeder notified me right away and kept very good contact through out. He packed them with 60 hr packs. I picked them up at a local hub. My 2 snakes were just fine and it was still warm inside the box.

I understand my 2 1/2 days isnt as long as your situation is, but i wanted to share my experience, and hope it helps.

I highly suggest keeping in close contact with your breeder while this is going on.
Keep us updated, i certainly hope things work out for you.

Video the unboxing and read up on the seller's TOS for DOA's.
