    Feeding question...eats great growing fast.

Got my Piebald "Swiper" back in October and he eats great and growing fast! I'm feeding him F/T rat pups from perfect prey every 6 days. When we got him he was right at 200g and he weighed 399g night before last. He is awesome! I fed him in his exo terra tank it its not nearly big enough imo but we have an AP T10 on order and should be another 3-4 weeks til they start cutting it.

When we first got the rat pups they were about the size, maybe SLIGHTLY smaller than the thickest part of his body but he is growing fast so now they seem small. I have about 10 left of the rat pups so I'm trying to decide should I fed him maybe every 5 days or can I double up his feedings? Not sure how that works. He likes to eat lol. I have a progression thread but I'll post a pick of his chunky self here also

    Thanks for for any feedback!

I'm not sure of her weight but my calico ate 3 hoppers a couple days ago. I didn't want to but she was still hungry after 2 so I offered the 3rd and she didn't even let me get it all the way in her cage. I prefer 2 smaller ones instead of 1 big one mostly because I want eating to be easier on my snakes. It might be frowned upon but all of my snakes are less hesitant to go after smaller meals

I'm a little jealous....I got my BP about month before you at 200g and he's only at 305g today. I think the difference is he's still on f/t mice since he won't make the switch to rats

Your guy looks like a very healthy eater from the pics!! Following the responses to your question, because I just bought some f/t which seem to be smaller then advertised.

Wow, what a Beauty. My 5 month old wants to eat every 48 to 72 hrs.. Lol. I fed her smaller than normal twice a week for the first couple months.. Now I'm at once a week and I basically give her what she will take right away.. If she retreats at all into her hide or just looks done i don't offer anymore.. Its usually 2-3 smaller size rather than 1 large enough as i breed my own and try to keep the larger for my older female... If I have some extra larger and need to thin those out then i'll give her 1 of those... Most of the time they know whats good enough and will stop eating so don't worry to much. Just finish up whatever you have in the smaller feeders, no need to waste. Like the other reply some people I know also feed smaller prey.. It makes them feel better especially when feeding live.. But that is another convo that people agree to disagree on hahahaha

I would just feed off what you have at regular schedule. A slightly smaller meal won't hurt anything.

Agreeing. Unless they're like, minuscule, just finish out what you have. Remember, these guys can go months without losing weight and have much slower metabolisms than creatures like us. The prey item being 6% of their overall for a few weeks is nothing when they often go months without eating in the wild or by choice during breeding season.
