    Timelines

Has anyone done an exercise, (and here I turn to those who have been breeding Ball Pythons for a number of years), whereby a general timeline can be applied to breeding ball Pythons.

I know that a lot of factors come into play, like Follicle Development and Growth, and Ovulation etc., but has anyone got a sort of general timeline on how long it takes from 1st positive lock to egg laying.

I can tell you that with my Dumerils Boas from first lock to birthing takes on average 234 days. The female once took 248 days, but once also only took 221 days.

My Corns and Kings will take from 57 to 69 days on average from first lock to laying eggs.

Has this sort of exercise been done by anyone on Ball Pythons.

    Re: Timelines

Theres no correlation between locks and ovulation, especially if its a females first year breeding. They can lock a hundred times and not ovulate, or like one of my girls a few years ago not lock a single time and lay fertile eggs from retained sperm from before her last clutch over a year previously.

Considering that follicular development is around 6 month, considering that the first lick might not be the one but the last one might or the one in between and considering that you can see anywhere between 1 to 10 locks, also considering that locks does not mean a female will actually go and lay eggs and finally considering sperm retention, how are you supposed to get a timeline???

There is only one timeline and it starts at ovulation.

The only timeline is indeed like Deborah said is once you see her poof like a damn football..

Other then that it is watching behavior, going to the front of the tub, hanging on the cold side, huuuggeeeeee feeding response (acting like a dumpster) Glowing, builds.
But only after she has actually ovulating you can count on and to something.
