bunny
hello every one, i'm thinking of breeding rabbits and then giving the babies pinkis and week old babies to my BP, because I can save money and it is hard to find mice in a good price. This week I bought 2 hammsters and they end up in the freezer because the male did not want them because they were to big and they cost me alot, so what do you guys think, need opinions and sugestions thx and God bless

Re: bunny
Rats are going to be cheaper and much easier for you.
I have never heard of anyone using rabbits to feed ball pythons.

Re: bunny
Well.. think of it this way.
The rabbit is going to eat more. A lot more.
The rabbit will take more space.. a lot more.
The rabbit will make more mess.. you get the picture.
The rabbit will make less food (babies)
The rabbit will take more time
Once you get several rats, you can breed your own breeding stock, so you won't have to buy them very often (only ocassionally to avoid inbreeding)

Re: bunny
well that a good point but
I have experience with rabbits because I breed them for food for humans and they only eat one cand of baby food full of there food not baby food
ok so I will be spending one dollar a week and buing mice I spend 2.50 per mice and I buy 3 or more rabbits can 8 to 10 or more babies a moth, so I dont now but I think is a good idea but the thing I whant to now is if rabbits are good to give to bps are they good in nutrition, and stuff like that thx for every thing and God bless

Re: bunny
It is possible to feed rabbits---babies---to BPs. I'm not sure if it's more nutritional or not, but I know of people that do.
Everything said earlier is true. It's going to cost a lot to raise rabbits. But, if you would prefer to raise rabbits to rats (which I can understand) you should go for it. Just understand that you will be spending more money initially getting things going---maybe more than you'll be saving in the long run.

Re: bunny
Rabbits need more space. If you're going to have multiple rabbits, you need to keep them in a place that is well ventilated. Rats can be kept in a fairly small room... much like a reptile room. Bedding, cages, bowls, food... it all adds up fairly quickly. Ask my roommate... she has one for a pet. Just one. And it costs her quite a bit.
Rabbits also eat quite a bit more than rats would... obviously because of size.
Rabbits just require more care in general than rats.
