Re: 9-1-1 new fox show condones killing snake as show gag.
I live snakes, they are my favorite animal and my only pets.
I also like some movies that glamorize violence toward snakes. As I said before, it is just TV drama. One of my favorite films portrays a hero character chopping and stabbing a huge pet snake.
The snake is a fearsome predator attacking him and he kills it. It’s cool.

My point is freedom of speech. We can make films with any “obscene” content and it’s perfectly acceptable.

I admire your passion and commend your efforts. I doubt any attempt to voice your opinion about the negative portrayal of a snake will make it much further than the cyber trash can. FOX thrives on controversy. Animal Rights groups raised holy he11 about the show Man vs Beast years ago. After the protests, FOX renewed it for a 2nd season. I wish you luck.

Re: 9-1-1 new fox show condones killing snake as show gag.
I havent seen the show myself but I don't like when people dramatize snakes to be vicious animals. I know it's TV show, but people think this is how snakes really are, and when people that dont understand snakes see stuff like that, they get the wrong impression of both snakes and snake keepers. Just my 0.2, I haven't seen it so maybe I got the wrong idea.

Cop shows take realism and throw it in the garbage. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

My advice is simply to stay positive about the issue, if you have a photo of you with a Burm, simply post it on social media and address it to the show in question and state how nice of a species they are.
Becoming offended and then voicing your opinions never changes people's minds, this holds true in so many fashions in this country....but that's all I'm going to say about that.

Of course if this was about a dog getting beheaded for jumping up there would be a media outrage ://
Ridiculous that just because some people are afraid of snakes/don't understand them, this BS is being spread in the media to serve only to spread the fear and lack of knowledge. I'd definitely complain too, but I don't think I could bring myself to watch the commercial to write an accurate complaint of what happened
If I didn't ask your opinion, I don't want it.

Yes, I do believe snakes are capable of enjoying a human's presence.

Re: 9-1-1 new fox show condones killing snake as show gag.
From what I've heard the show show sucked anyway. Probably won't make it to a second season.
Still - treating snakes like they are pure evil is the same as saying pit bulls/german shepherds, etc are dangerous dogs - it's just pure ignorance that is unfortunately blindly accepted by the masses that don't care to educate themselves.

Lol, the poor snake during the scene. It's just chilling around her shoulders. (At least, from the promo that was posted.)
As if a snake just lazily drapes itself across its owner's shoulders and starts squeezing. If a retic was trying to coil you, it would definitely be more noticeable.
Anyways, anybody who owns a retic (or any large snake) is not going to be as stupid as the character that's being "coiled" is being portrayed as, though I do admit accidents happen. You know what happens even more often though? Let's Google how many pet-dog-related deaths happen per year, as opposed to pet-snake-deaths.
Why didn't the 911 writers write about a scene in which somebody was being mauled by their dog? Or their kid was being mauled by their dog? And then the police come and chop its head off.
It wouldn't happen because it's disrespectful to both the dog species and the people who love them, despite being a much more common happenstance.
I know it's "just TV" but you have to consider that the media that's produced by our society is a direct reflection of our opinion towards certain topics.

I didn't see anyone mention it yet but this is a reflection of reality. A lot of these police drama literally take real stories and make fictionalized versions. This event just happened a year or so ago except it was a boa constrictor. And people here had a fit about that too.
