    OMG HE'S BEEN ON LIFE SUPPORT 5 TIMES!!! and he still does it...what a true B.A. i like what he said: "snake venom has saved more people than its killed." very thought-provoking.

    Personally, I think this is about the only good reason to keep venomous snakes... I've always wondered how much money can be made doing this. I bet it's a lot...

    I know someone semi-local who does this, the venom goes to companies like 3M, DOW, Merck, and Johns Hopkins for research.

    He gets anywhere from $1k to $5k per oz for the venom, depending on the snake species.

    He also can't get health or life insurance, period, so he keeps enough money in savings to cover a trip to the hospital should it be needed.

    Not something I would ever do but given the money involved I can see why people would.

    Wow! That definitely sounds a lot more lucrative than breeding seems to be for most people! lol

    Lol, yeah, breeding is mainly just to cover the high costs of keeping them buggers!!!

    Ummmmmmmm... the cost of keeping snakes is not at all high. It costs me more to keep one horse and two dogs than my 100+ snakes each month.
