I am pretty sure Axel is having a bad shed, he is shedding it in pieces....

How else can I help him?

    Re: Bad Shed??

Get some moss and put a ball of it in his hide and put a layer in the tank. My snake had a bad first shed and this is what I had to do. He just had a perfect shed. I used the compressed moss and only used a half a brick which was still a little to much for a 50 gallon tank.

To add to Zin's advice and in case the stuck shed is very stubborn, get a wet pillow case (or other cotton bag or cloth) and wet it, not dripping wet though. Put Axel in there and let him move around for a bit. Maybe hold Axel in the bag, apply some gentle pressure as he moves around to help catch the wet shed.

Try for about 30 minutes and see if it helps pull off the stubborn shed. You could go more or less on the time, just not sure how much it'll bother Axel.

    Good luck! Stuck sheds suck!

If it is a fairly troublesome shed, I agree with the pillowcase technique, just want to add that you should make sure the water is a comfortable, warm temp for Axel.
