shedding problem with high strung tegu
My tegu Geo had his first shed yesterday. He has got it all off except for on his back feet and front hands. He will not let me pick him up to put him into a bath or let me pull the skin off for him. What should i do??

Can you rub him with a warm damp cloth? Don't go directly for his feet/hands at first, but start at his shoulders or hips, down his legs, then get his feet and hands.

I tired that, no luck. Got a nice tail whack instead. I ended up getting him into a small rubber maid and then up the stairs into the tub to soak.

Re: shedding problem with high strung tegu
I've had trouble with getting tegu sheds off as well. It gets incredibly dry in my house during the winter (like 10% humidity) and his last shed before he hibernates is always tough. I don't recommend just soaking, that can take oils they need out of their skin. You can soak them and then apply oil to the needed areas though. Some things I recommend are upping the humidity, adding a humid hide, applying coconut oil to the needed areas, and dampening the substrate.

I agree soaking really doesn't help. You need to keep the humidity up in the cage. How deep is your substrate, what is the humidity above ground and what is it below ground?
