Crhistmas traveling coming up - How to correctly leave BP for three nights?

    Hi everyone,

I've searched a few threads but didn't quite get the answer I'm looking for.

This is a two part question:

    1) With a 40 gallon tank, I have a UTH set at 90degrees 24/7 and a 100 watt bulb on only during the day time. With my (studio) apartment being at usually 76/77 degrees (never falls below 75) - Is having the 100 watt bulb necessary?

I have been keeping a notepad for the past few days and I am thinking it probably is necessary, at lease with a tank this size, as the ambient temp on the cool side of the tank is 80-83degrees. Although, the reason I ask is because I'm finding that only having a UTH is extremely common.

    2) With the 24/7 UTH and during the daytime only bulb (if this is the correct setup) - what is the best way to leave my BP home alone for three nights? The easiest thing I can think of is to have the UTH + set my home heater at 78(?) degrees for my home to maintain proper temps.

I think taking him with me is out of the question as I only have one heat pad (stuck to the tank), plus hauling around a 40gal isn't fun.

    All advice appreciated!

    Edit: sentence structure

Make sure his water dish is filled with water and make sure the cage is escape proof.

Barring power outages, there is no reason to be concerned leaving a snake unattended for 3 days so long as your heat sources are on a thermostat and your light is on a timer switch.

You don't need the 100 watt bulb for those temps. Just provide a bowl of water or two and he will be fine for 3 days. That's the nice thing about snakes, you can leave them alone for a week with no problem, as long as your setup has the temps and humidity consistent.

Are you suggesting not to use the bulb with this setup at all?

Which makes sense on a gradient scale. . . if the UTH is 90degrees, my house is, say 77degrees, then that provides the ideal ambient temperature scale, right?

There are so many conflicting opinions on this i'm finding, lol.
