Almost had an escapee...
So, yesterday, I decided to move my little 40gr. MBK from her small tub to the AP enclosure. Figured she'd be ok in there after throwing in some hides and some wood branches. And, after placing her in there, she did indeed seem to get comfy.
So... I get home from work at 4:00am this morning. I check on the enclosure as usual. And I see this...
0.1 Mexican Black Kingsnake (Tynee)
0.1 BEL Ball (Luna)
0.1 Sunglow Boa (Pippi Longsnake)
0.1 Woma Python (Uma)
WANT LIST
- Mangrove Snake
- Russian Rat Snake
- Eastern Indigo
- Black Milk Snake
- False Water Cobra
- Rhino Rat Snake
- Thai Bamboo Rat Snake
- Western Hognose
- Kenyan Sand Boa

Forgot to mention...
She was sort of stuck... at least I think she was stuck. Maybe she could have ultimately slithered her way completely out.
But, got to her, had to remove the glass door rather than slide it open. Looked her over and she seemed completely fine. Did not look like there were any injuries or nicks or such.

Snakes with their scale armor, extremely flexible rib cage, limbless spine and heavily muscled bodies are extremely tough! They can squeeze through impossibly tight spaces, drop from heights onto hard surfaces with no injuries (muscle and flexible skeleton). Did I mention that serpents are my FAVORITE animals in the world, amazing!

Re: Almost had an escapee...
That's a really tight space. Was kind of amazed that he squeezed through that. For now, being Thanksgiving and dinner to attend to, I did a temporary fix, stuffing some cardboard into that space. But, I wonder a little if those T8 vent slots are escape-proof, or even the one small hole I drilled to put the Herptat probe through.
She is not a small snake. I mean, yea, small, 40 grams... but, not THAT small for its age. I was really surprised.

Best thing for filling that gap between the glass doors is one of those transparent Perspex / plastic rulers ...handily they come in various thicknesses and can be easily it to the appropriate length ...they aren't noticeable either ..

Nice save!!!
They are incredible when it comes to finding holes, anything they can fit through. And if their head fits, they fit. So you caught her in time, but if given more time she would have made it the rest of the way.
Glad you caught her in time

Such a bad little girl! Lol. Adorable as can be. Give her something extra juicy for dinner so she knows you still love her.
