    Exciting night

Looks like my pastel leopard het DG manned up in time for this season!

The backup male had already proven himself a couple weeks ago

So it looks like I may get a dual sired clutch. I’m very excited to see how this goes. I’d obviously love to get visuals from both fathers but that’s up to the odds gods. All I can do now is continue rotating males every couple weeks and hope for the best, but witnessing both males with locks is very promising so it’s hard not to be hopeful.

Exuse the ignorance, but how would a double sired clutch affect the offspring? Would the offspring get traits from both parents?

Each egg can be fertilized by either male so in this case I can get ghi DG, leopard DG or both. It isn’t always a good idea because not knowing which is the father could be an issue in some cases but since my female is visual, all non visuals will be 100% het either way. Using two different het males just gives me a chance of getting more variety.

I was just watching a video of a breeder who would pair all kinds of males to his Normal females. He said it was like Easter eggs, you never know what you'll get!
