Heating scare, please advise..
So for the past year I have been using UTH mats from RBI on the front side /cool side of the tubs in my c serpents racks.. I'm using a thermostat set at 79 . Reason is my room drops down too 72 during the months November thru February I live in a two story townhouse ..
Well, by accident the mat with the probe became unplugged causing the other three mats to be uncontrolled by reaching temps of 114.. all the snakes are fine I went ahead and actually taped the plugs together so they don't become unplugged...
Wondering if a space heater is safer way too go?
It's a real hassle having to deal with the UTH mats even though it's only 4 months of the year...
During the summer I close the vent in room an close the door when air conditioner is running an I never drop it below 78..

An oil filled heater is so much easier to raise ambient temperatures.

Depends on the house. I ran one in my rat shed during the winters for several years and have one in my snake room that gets uswd in the cold months.

Just remember that you will need A high power thermostat to control the oil filled heater. I also set my heater on a ceramic tile because my room is carpeted and just felt better with having the tile under it

I actually have extra temperature probes with high and low temp alarms on each level of my rack in case something goes wrong. They are cheap and it gives me peace of mind.

Infrared space heater... I love mine, I have one for my snake room and one for my bedroom. Super efficient and comfy.

Every oil filled space heater I've seen has a thermostat built-in . Wonder since my room is 60 sq.ft what size too get ..
