    First herpstat have a question?

Bought a herpstat 1 fo my CB-70 rack placed probe on heat tape exactly like I did with other rack which has the VE-200 controlling it I have it set at 93 an it is at 93..
the herpstat I set it to 89.5 probe readings are from 89.3 to 89.6. when it reads below set temperature the power percentage ranges from 25-31% once it hits 89.5 it's at 0% power.
I have it set for dimming..Only been running for less then 12 hrs..
Just want to make sure this is normal ...

are you asking if the power % fluctuation is normal? then yes, it is. once it reaches its set temperature, it cuts power to the unit, and increases power once it needs to.

i hope this helped! sorry if i didn't understand the question.

Sorry about that for whatever reason it wouldn't let me go back and edit it but yes what I'm asking is the percentages normal as well as temperature fluctuation even though it's not even an quarter of a degree difference

It wouldn't let me edit watching a little bit more closely the temperature never actually reads 89.5 degrees it jumps between 89.4 and 89.6 but once it goes above 89.5 there is zero percentage of power and I'm just wondering if there is a time. It needs to adjust and it'll sit at that temperature or is it going to continuously bounce between. Very very slight degree difference

i'd say yes. my Herpstat fluctuates about the same amount whenever the temp drops by 0.1°.

Minor temp fluctuations and percentage changes are normal. The thermostat is trying to learn where that sweet spot is to maintain your set temp.

how often does it bounce around? mine does this as well, but it happens maybe every 10-15 minutes. i think once it's been running long enough (since you said you've just plugged it in) it'll be able to maintain the set temperature easier than it is now.

It doesn't seem to be continuous but the pattern is the same it gets down to 89.3 31% 32%and then it goes over to 89.6 89.7 degrees one zero power. There's probably about 5-10 minutes of time from when it sits at 89 7 and then it goes back to the cycle and goes down 89.3 and then sits there for a while.. I set it up last night around 7 p.m. California time..

this sounds like the unit is working as intended. maybe it just doesn't like 89.5° lol.

Yeah I don't know why I put it at 89.5 I just wanted to make sure it was running . I'll be changing the temperature once I get ready to put my adult female ball pythons in there so their won't be any half degree..
