This time I tried a small mouse but last time he ate a medium mouse but everyone was suggesting I go down to a small, so, I did.

I thought it was addressed multiple times for you to wait on feeding him again. You want to wait 5-7 days before offering food again. Offering food too frequently after a refusal could lead to MORE food refusals.

Fix your husbandry, then wait a week without offering or handling, then offer and he won't refuse.

Don't apologize to people on the forum, it's Axel taking the butt of your issue with listening to educated snake keepers. People here only comment trying to help your snake survive.

Cool beans, so you don't think your husbandry is incorrect? You think everything is perfect and he's not eating for no reason? Why do you think he's not eating? Let us know the reason.

Because once you've fixed the reasons, I guarantee he will start eating. If you don't, he may never eat, or if he does out of starvation, he will live an unhealthy life.

This thread has been going round in circles with you not listening to any of the advice. Good luck!

It doesn't make them experts. Multiple people here are. They have been with snakes for decades. Multiple overrides one. I'm not being snarky. Maybe you can educate your friend as well or refer them here.

Here's the thing. You already know your husbandry is off. You were given advise on several occasions how to fix it even before Axel arrived. You are at a rough enough start that I still strongly advise taking the safer route and holding off on offering food again. Offering this soon may work out, but it may NOT work out and could set you even further back than where you are now.

    Better safe than sorry right?

    Re: Axel Feeding Day!!

Some info for you in case it will help you out with the anxiety over the feeding - Baby garter snakes can weigh less than 3g and have a much faster metabolism than ball pythons - it still takes 14 days for them to starve. Your snake on the other hand is much bigger, is a species with a slower metabolism, and has recently eaten a meal. A young ball python not eating is a concern, but unless it is already very severely underweight (very triangular in shape ), it is not an emergency. The poor little guy on this thread was very urgently underweight and shows a hollow-looking underbelly (*spoilers* he gets healthy!) https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...ny-ball-python - this is emergency-level skinny. Yours on the other hand should be in no immediate danger by not eating, so just make sure all husbandry is on-point, and then let him work on his own time. It's not the same as mammals'.

Edit: just to make sure I'm clear though, it does not mean to ignore not eating. The biggest concern about not eating is that it is a symptom of other issues that will harm faster than not eating itself. Thus making sure all husbandry is right. Once everything else is right, the not eating symptom should resolve itself given some time. People just get worked up and don't work on the snake's time scale.
