good brand of dirt
I'm getting a baby Nile this weekend and i'm debating which substrate to use. I would use topsoil because of the price but I don't know any good brands or types to use, do I use potting soil or just regular dirt? Or I can spend an extra 8,000,000$ to get some eco-earth.

Just get the cheapest bag of topsoil without any additives or dig the dirt yourself from a clean area. Also, there a places where you can get eco earth and it isn't crazy expensive, like chewy.com and a few others. Hope you're prepared for a nile.

Re: good brand of dirt
I hope I'm ready for a nile too! I've been wanting a monitor for about a year or two and I found this cute little one as rescue so I emailed and now i'm getting a nile! Should I get organic soil? Probably. It doesn't hurt lol.

I am assuming you already have the proper sized enclosure, with the correct heat setup for the animal. That being said you can go to an industrial supplier that sells screened dirt, rocks etc and get dirt by the truck load. That's what I did for the Tegu.
