Ball Python pooped out half eaten mouse

So an hour or so ago My BP Pooped out a half eaten rat, pretty self explanatory title. The smell was unlike anything I've ever smelled, extremely horrendous, However I know for sure it was not a regurgitation as there were brown solid poops and when i picked up the substrate and said poop with a plastic bag it all came out as one piece, his cloaca smelled the same too. I'm guessing its either cause my hot side of the enclosure is not hot enough or the meal was too big for him, worse case scenario being parasites. But as this is my first time keeping a BP I can't be entirely sure and I'd like some advice .

The other one...the brown poop part doesn't look all digested either to me. I honestly have no idea. How long ago did you feed her that rat?

Imdont have enough experience with with this to know. If it was me, I would make a vet appt.

Also what are your temps at? Hot side, cool side, and ambient? Humidity?

When dealing with a regurgitation you need to wait TWO WEEKS and I cannot stress enough the importance of this.

After that it will either happen again or it will not

If it does you need to consider the followings

Bad feeder

Low temperatures not allowing proper digestion

Stress

Internal parasites

Based on your description it looks like the rat was not even in the process of being digested so I would have to go with the rat being spitted back out which is generally due to disturbance or size.

Either way because you have limited experience and your description may or may not be correct I would recommend to wait two weeks.

Hot side is around the 90 side , ambient and cold I'm not very sure , humidity is 60

I am not a vet and have no real idea, but I would GUESS maybe it was lack of heat to digest? Just a wild guess.

I had it happen once and best I could come up with is just somehow passed it early with another bowel movement. Hasn't happened since but definitely keep an eye on it.

That is defiantly a regurgitated meal. I do not see feces in the photo just the head end of the rat more digested than the tail. I would not recommend sniffing your pets vent. He could have crawled over the nasty hense the smell on the snake. There are dozens of reasons for regurgitation in snakes. The rat looks small in the photo so unless this is a very small snake, I would not guess the meal was too large. They can eat pretty large meals successfully. My two best guesses both have to do with heat. Either the snake does not have a warm enough hot spot to digest or if this meal was F/T, the rodent may not have been thawed all the way in the center. I would not feed or mess with the snake at all for two weeks and make sure the hot spot is right. When you do feed, I would offer a very small live rat pup. This way the temp of the prey will be perfect for your pet and a rat pup will be pretty easy for the snake to kill without risking a bite from the rat. Good luck.
