    Could this be a paradox??

    Hi guys,
We recently added a new BP to our collection and just a tad bit confused by one of his markings. He’s a Yellow Belly Piebald, but as you can see he has an interesting, much darker, and unusual spot. The seller didn’t mention anything about him being “paradox.” We’ve examined many pictures of this gene but haven’t run across any quite like him so we’re starting to think it might possibly be a paradox marking. His parents were YB pied x Pastel pied. I’d be very curious what y’all think about his marking.

That does look like a paradox marking. Although pieds can display dark/ black markings along and in their areas of white. I don't think the normal black markings would be as large of a surface area as you have in this animal. Very nice pickup. Grats.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

Handsome little guy! I have a YB pied male as well. He doesn't have a large black patch like yours, but he has gained additional black scales as he has grown.

Gerrick from royal constrictors has a video of 2 pastel pie bald somethings that have this and I've seen it a few times I wouldn't call it a paradox just a off colored saddle but it can be a paradox unique to pie balds as I haven't seen black saddles like that

Well one of his parents is a pastel pied, so if it’s a pastel pattern coming though then by definition it’d be paradox. But I do see what you’re saying. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter to us, he’s awesome either way. We’re actually about to get a true paradox from Ralph pretty soon. Might show her off on another thread.
