    ball python not eating

my ball python has only ever gone 1 week without eating and today marks 2 weeks that he has not eaten. His temps and humidity are good and he is usually a really good eater. I don't think he is in shed right now so I am getting kind of worried. When should I seek a vet?

They go off feed sometimes. Especially the males when they think it is breeding season. My male has done 2 fasts each that were exactly 7 weeks without food. He does it once a year for the breeding season it seems.

Just keep an eye on your husbandry and make sure he has fresh water. As long as he doesn't start to lose too much weight he should be fine.

    Re: ball python not eating

One week is nothing to worry about. As stated, just keep an eye on his temps and try again next week. I have a Dumeril's who, even at 6 months old, would only accept food maybe1 out of 3 tries! Yet, she is growing like a weed. Ball pythons are known to be finicky with food at times. As long as he's not losing weight, I wouldn't worry.

    Re: ball python not eating

My adult male BP went 8 months off food and then started eating again. This is normal with Ball Pythons. It could go even longer than 8 months.
