Question on first feeding - Pls respond!
Tonight has been a week since picking up my california king. I heard that usually as youngsters they don't grab their prey off the tongs at first... My girl slithered away from the pinkie I was offering her tonight, so I just laid it on the substrate to see if she eats it later this evening. Am I doing the right thing by leaving it there and let her come to it? I didn't want to chase her with it!!!
ALSO, if it's still there in the morning I should remove it....right??

You're spot on Jus. Leave the feeder in overnight and discard it if not eaten by morning.

I can't wait until she grows... so since she is eating pinkie mice right now, would it be the same rule to look at the girth of her body to judge when she moves on? And the next size would be fuzzy, right?

My king was a very difficult eater as a hatchling, and I feared the little thing would just slip away from lack of nourishment. Mine eventually did grow into adulthood, but at the beginning, It IS stressful.
Don't leave old spoiled feeders in the enclosure. Remove in the morning.
Don't chase, and wait a few days between attempts.

Just be patient. When in doubt, smaller is better.

Their heads are smaller. I did one pinky then two, switched to fuzzies but crushed the skulls during transition.

Would you feed once a week or twice a week??
