    Burned Ball Python

Hello, I have a ball python that was burned pretty bad, I realize it is my fault but there were certain circumstances that didn't allow me to be with the ball python to care for it. I'm in the Army and was away for a few months and had a family member watch it. It was my mistake not telling them they needed to have the thermostat with the heat pad. I recently got her back and realized it didn't look well at all. I got iodine wash and polysporn till I could get her to a vet. I have called just about every vet around where I am currently stationed and none deal with snakes. The brown skin (what may be puss) over the burn will come loose after soaking but my real concern is the fact that I'm afraid she has a bacterial infection. I've read all the horror stories of septicemia and have spent countless hours researching for something I can do for her. She's an albino and I have noticed some of the scales on her body have a slight reddish Hugh I know this is a bad sign. She doesn't seem lethargic and ate for me a few days ago but I am worried. It's very stressful with my work schedule and not being able to find a people vet. I can't order any of the right anti biotics with out a script. I would give her the shots myself if I could get a hold of some. I really feel As if I've hit a brick wall. Is there any chance of her fighting this, are their immune systems able to handle it? Any input would help. And yes I already know this is my fault, trust me when I say i take 100% of the blame. I really do feel terrible that I haven't found her medical treatment. I do hope there's a chance and it's not too late. I truely care for this snake. Thankyou for your time. My apologies if I didn't post this in the correct section.

You may have to drive further for a vet. Make you radias area bigger. Where are you located! Or what post are you assigned too? And If you still don't have a tempstat unplug the under tank heater right now.

    Re: Burned Ball Python

At Bragg. And I switched to over head heating with red lamp. I've been using paper towels for substrate and switching every day. And currently my schedule doesn't permit me too. I do have this weekend though and will try my best to find someone who can help, I just hope it's not too late.

Seventy first animal hospital in Fayetteville. Call. They take reptiles too. Not far from you at all.

o man, that sucks. I just finally bought an infrared thermometer, (temperature gun), and I feel my snakes are so much safer now! Good thermostat and good thermometers is KEY to keeping these creatures. Good luck and I hope your snake recovers.

Another exotic vet clinic would be Centers for Avian and exotics. Highly recommended.
