Temperature with Substrate?

I'm using a temp gun to get readings- should I go by the temp of the bottom of the tub, or the top of the substrate? I'm assuming bottom of the tub, as it's less likely to burn him. Thx!

you need to know the temperature of the absolute warmest part your snake can touch, because they WILL get to it.

Cheers! I'm assuming, based on research, that 35C is the absolute hottest it can go? It tends to reach that around the centre of the mat, not so much around the sides.

I've lowered it a little, should be good now. The higher readings I was getting was from the probe itself, not the bottom of the tub

i would say that 94° F (34° C) is the absolute warmest you should be getting to at the bottom of the enclosure. as long as the bottom sits around 90° F (32° C) you're golden.
