Help with yellow belly
I'm getting pretty good at identifying morphs but yellow belly still stumps me. What do you look for to identify yellow belly? If you have a picture to show an example of course that would be the most helpful. I've looked at the pics on wobp but I honestly have a hard time seeing what makes them different from a normal. I need to figure this out because I just had a clutch hatch that was pastel enchi x spider pastel possible yellow belly. I had a breeder friend confirm my female does look yellow belly. Now I have 7 babies that I'd like to have a pretty definite identification on before I try selling them. I'll eventually get pics of them up after they shed but I think it's more important for me to learn how to identify it on my own rather than just have someone tell me what they are. If you have any helpful info on how to identify yellow belly, please share.

i'm not an expert but i only see a nice, browned out Bumbleebee. she does have really nice high white sides and a really nice uniform pattern too. a Bumblebee YB would have flames and retain better yellows. i'm sure there are other indicators that others will chime in with.

I agree on just bumblebee. The pattern down to her belly should have flames, which I dont see in her. The yellow colour along her belly is not an indicator on yellowbelly but many people seems to think so. Take a look at WOBP, you can see the colouring in the flames on the photos there.
It's all about genetics ..

Re: Help with yellow belly
Also along with the flames on the ventrolateral scales, you have to have the ventral scale checkering that is typical in yellowbelly gene. So you really have to examine the belly.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

The last two pics have that checkered, almost connected line where the side and belly meet. That is a good sign. Some YB's are a lot easier to spot than others.

Ok, I see the checkering your talking about. That helps, thanks. Anybody see anything else?
