All stretched out.
Not too often do I get my snakes to fully stretch out, but when they hit the grass, things happen.
Photobucket is out and so are a bunch of my pictures.
I found a new posting source and found these sunny day pictures that I never posted.
Boa Constrictor body shots all unrolled!
Barranquilla, Colombian Boa ready to race!

This is a nice example of a full grown, male boa constrictor. Boa Constrictor I or Boa Constrictor C it doesn't matter much. Folks looking to step up in size and activity levels from royal pythons would do just fine with boa constrictors.
The very large boas are rare, and I get a little disappointed when I see folks shy away from mainland boa constrictors because they fear their size. This guy may hit a solid 7 feet someday. I think he's close, but I can say handling even a 7 foot boa is much, much more relaxing than handling a 6 foot and much lighter bodied retic.
There are some very capable people out there as keepers that are maybe missing out on a great species because they think boas get too big.
I'd love to own another one!

Nice looking boa.
And I agree, a lot of people are missing out. I mean even Caesar at 7'+ is a giant puppy. Only thing is he is constantly on the go but as far as attitude, he is a lush lol. He has never tried to bite me or even hiss at me. I've been bit by a few of the boas as babies. But even Rosey at 6-6.5' and Vicky at 5.5' are lap snakes too if there is no food involved. I would bet it would be hard pressed to get them to bite anyone.
I think most people are intimidated by the size of large constrictors. Of course I also think a lot of it has to do with how you raise them. Lots of interaction will produce a snake more used to people. I messed with Caesar all the time as a baby and like I said, now he's a giant lush lol. If I didn't know better, I would bet he likes the interaction when I open his door and reach in to pet him as he comes over by me and sits there while I pet him lol.
Anyways, lets see some pics of the new cage. Get it up and running!
