Exclamation Snake Was Stuck?! Might be injured

Help! I don't see any blood but my snake got stuck in a little crevice of the lid of their tank for 10+ minutes! (The crevice used to be filled with a sock, cause I couldn't fix it yet and only recently noticed. they must have pushed the sock out though) It was their upper body where they were stuck, and I was hoping they could free themselves cause there is no way for me to open the lid without it hurting them further. It got to the point where they were struggling with an open mouth and I hulked the lid up (broke hinges and will have to replace lid, definitely for the best.) I am so worried, should I just leave them? Take them out??? God this is my first snake and I've not sure if they're ok

edit: I picked them up, and they flinched when I touched where they were stuck. The scales aren't broke, but their skin is very dented. It's along the spine too

If you think it might be injured, the best thing is to take it to a vet to be checked out.

In the meantime, if you can take pictures without disturbing the snake, post them and the veteran keepers here might be able to chime in.

If you put the snake down, can it still use the part of its body past the dent? If so, you might be ok but i would still watch it. If it looks like it's dragging the part of its body past the damage, then it might be a broken spine and that would be euthanasia since any break of the spine above the vent is pretty much a slow painful death.

And his mouth was open probably because his lung was being compressed more and more as he struggled to push through and exhaled.

The only 100% way to know if your snake is ok is either a vet or wait it out and see if the snake acts weird or dies unfortunately. No one on the internet can diagnose a problem as we arent vets nor do we have access to your animals.

If you think it's a spinal injury he needs to see a vet.
