Question Rat exploded, how to clean?

Dear community, I need your help ASAP!

I always fed my BP in his terrarium, but now a rat exploded in there and hit the walls with its entrails while doing so..
Not wanting to start a discussion about feeding in the terrarium here, I just can't get rid of the terrible smell.
I already changed the bedding and tried to wash it out with water, but nothing seems to stop this smell on the walls.

Got any ideas what I could use to clean up?

White vinegar or a 10% bleach/90% water solution. You'll have to wash well with whichever you choose, then wash again with plain water. If you can still smell vinegar or bleach, wash again with water.

Just an FYI in case you didn't already know, exploding prey is usually due to over heating the prey item.

Anyway, good luck with that mess!!

Red face Re: Rat exploded, how to clean?

Thanks so much for the fast replies!

This wasn't the first time I had something exploding in there, it probably just laid around for warming up too long so it started decomposing (so you can imagine how it stanks...) Now I know better for the next time

I already tried vinegar but it just seemed to mix up with the smell... Guess I'll have to do it a few times until it helps, and sadly I can't get some bleach in near time...

    Again, thank you very much!
