Is My Corn Snake Hungry?
I fed my five year old Corn Snake a small weaner rat on Monday, it's now only Wednesday but he has rubbed his nose along the front of the tank repeatedly, which I've read is a sign of hunger. I'm aware it's too early to feed him again yet, but should I change how often I feed him? He's currently on one every seven days. Thanks!

How is he housed? Re-check care sheets, and make sure husbandry is correct. Temps? Too damp/dry? Pine or cedar shavings for substrate are not ok.
Are you living in the Southern hemisphere? Males get restless in the Spring.
It does seem unusually active for a corn. Mine is pretty chill, even if he hasn't eaten for a week. Corns cruise around the enclosure a lot, but they shouldn't look like the NEED to get out (as long as it isn't Spring).
7-10 days for an adult male is about right. Feeder size should roughly match the widest part of the snake.

Re: Is My Corn Snake Hungry?
Pretty sure all the temps etc are good, I'm using aspin substrate, and it's coming up Winter. That's only the second time in about a month he's done that, he spends most of his time chilling in the back of the tank. I'm assuming he's fine, I was just worried- thank you for the info, I wasn't aware about the Spring thing

Aspen should be fine. The only other possibility I can think of, is to check for mites.

I don't think I would worry either. If husbandry is on point you should be fine.
I didn't immediately think mites, but I'm no expert and can't hurt to check.

I'll check him later today, but I'm fairly sure he's clean- no noticeable black spots and nothing coming off onto my hands

Sounds good. Is he spending time in his water dish?

Strange, corns usually don't do that type of behavior even when hungry, at least in my experience. Cruising around sure, but not rubbing. Could something in the room be moving and making him anxious or did anything else in the room change recently? Ceiling fan or something? Could be the heat source got a bit too high (happens sometimes). Corns would usually only rub if trying to get away from something, like too high heat or mites like was mentioned. Of course it could be the mating urge as was also mentioned. Hopefully it's a temporary thing and he snaps out of it quickly! If it's just something he does every once in a while and it's not causing bad nose rub, I wouldn't worry about it. Silly snakes!

I've not seen him in his water dish, no. I'm the only moving thing in the room 99% of the time. He has spent more time in his cold corner today than usual. I'm sure it's nothing, but I'll keep an eye out for anything else strange just in case

Re: Is My Corn Snake Hungry?
Now that I think about it, his last shed was pretty patchy- which was with his previous owner, I think I've sorted the husbandry now. Could he be trying to rub any possible excess from his nose?
