Acquired my first rats about a year ago, but they were both males, and became pets. A neighbour gave me a few more several weeks ago, and one was already pregnant. Two new males took up residence in the upper half of the Critter Nation, and I bought a nice Martin's cage for the girls. Three girls, plus a growing litter of babies, and the Martin's was getting very over-run.

Well, I looked at the babies yesterday, and realized what HAD to be done, and right away, because these babies had already outgrown all but one snake. The deed wasn't that hard, I've done a lot of home scale livestock butchering. They made it easier by not having particularly nice personalities - just like momma. (I chose her because she is a a hairless. Pretty to look at - not fun to handle.) Six are packaged in the freezer.

Starbuck enjoyed the last, and had no problem getting it down.
