Heat Question - Startup before BP Arrives
Is it best practice to get the enclosure bottom the highest allowable temp to account for the lost heat from substrate (and yes I understand that minimal substrate should be used). I'm using Reptichip.
For instance, my hot side thermostat is set to 100 and I'm seeing 89-90 enclosure bottom temps and my cool side thermostat is set to 96 and I'm seeing 80-85 enclosure bottom temps. Note: I have a UTH on both sides to achieve a cool side temp in the low 80s.
Also, I'm assuming once I put in hides, heat will get trapped and warm the hides.

Are you using the UTH's for ambient temps?
Your UTH is there to provide a hot spot, but not for ambient temps.

I'm using it because my cool side enclosure bottom was around 75 and many on this board suggested I incorporate another UTH to achieve a temp in the low 80s.

Another UTH or another heat source like a CHE or bulb or RHP?
Are you running any additional heat sources or just the two UTHs?

It was recommended another UTH. I can't use a bulb because it's a PVC enclosure.

Re: Heat Question - Startup before BP Arrives
I put a digital thermo w/ a probe on top of a raised hide on the cool side and it's reading 82 so I hope that's a good sign for ambient temps being in the 'safe zone'. Is it recommended to have two digital thermos w/ probes on the enclosure floor AND a thermo to measure ambient temps? If so, any recommended ambient temp therms?
Here's what I'm currently working with

I assume it's recommended to glue the probes onto the enclosure floor and cover w/ substrate.

Just a word on the thermometer you've posted a link for ...
I use similar ones and they'll do the job BUT I get mine off eBay for about 3 dollars / £2 ....
Get yourself a digital temp gun as well , off eBay or Amazon . Anwhere between 7 and 13 dollars .
