    2018 Breeding Season Thread

I will be using this thread to showcase my 2018 season from pairings to pipping. Yes, I realize it's still 2017 but nothing will be hatched before the end of the year. This season will be mostly about recessives, i.e. Hypo, Pied, and maybe even Clown if my male gets up to size. He's only around 600 grams and sometimes they just don't get it figured out when they're that size. Most of the babies should look like typical single and double gene animals, but they should set me up for some really nice combos in the future. Without further ado, the first pairing.

    1.0 Pied Ghost X 0.1 Yellowbelly

Please excuse the appearance. I use paper substrate and it can get pretty messy when they get going. Stay tuned for some future pairings. Thanks

    Re: 2018 Breeding Season Thread

With the remnants of hurricane Irma approaching the ATL, I thought I would take advantage of the low pressure system to pair some animals. I put three males with females last night and found all locked this morning.

    0.1 Pastel Mojave X 1.0 Leopard Pinstripe

0.1 Enchi Hypo X 1.0 Enchi Double het Hypo / Clown

0.1 Yellowbelly X 1.0 Pied Ghost (this is second lock for these two)

I have a 0.1 Vanilla that I plan to pair with the 1.0 Pied Ghost as well. I also have a 0.1 Fire het Hypo sitting at about 1,200 grams right now whom I hope will still make size for this season, but I'm not going to push it. Thanks for looking and stay tuned for future updates.

7 pounds of snake in a 2 pound bowl. Every time I've had a big girl soak like this, she has usually ovulated not too long after so I'm taking this as a good sign. Oh, and she has also just gone off feed which just reinforces my suspicions. She was paired to the Leopard Pin so fingers crossed for something fun.

I'm starting to pair up as well. I should have taken a photo of my fire pied male with my bumble bee yellow belly possible het pied, trying to prove her out. Should get a really interesting clutch from those two. Actually saw them lock up on the first day! Also paired up an albino pied with a regular pied, trying to get some hets and make more albino pieds. A lot of my other stuff is top secret, I'll tell you when you see the babies next year LOLOL.

I actually just tried out my new ultrasound, it works great. Some of my girls already had follicles that were as big as 16 mm, some right at 12 mm. There was one girl that seemed to not have any follicles, I was wondering if she was really a girl so I probed her. Sure enough, she is a girl! My big retic had 13 mm follicles so I paired her up as well. It was so crazy in that tub my whole rack was shaking from those two retics in the big tub! They finally chilled out HA!

I always take pics of the locks just so I can back up genetics, especially with recessives. Also it shows prospective buyers of the babies what the quality or appearance of the parents is like.

I look forward to seeing some of your future productions. Sounds like it could be interesting.

This girl is really glowing. you can really see the difference from the photo of her in the bowl. I hope everyone's season is progressing nicely.

I separated my pairs last Friday and accidently separated two pairs that were locked, not good. They were all balled up and I couldn't tell if they were locked or not. I won't do that again, I'm making sure I can see a tail before I remove the male!

Your enchi-ghost and your leopard-pinstripe are really cool combos. I like how the genes interact on both of those breeders.
