Some new T shots (dial up death)

    M. robustum molted again a couple of weeks ago.

    B. Boehmei, in it's new home (immature male), he's brighter than my female

    P. platyomma, which I have raised from a fairly small sling.

And a link to picture of the same species as one of my new T's that is really really cute. (I cannot take a picture of this T, it is 1/2" in size) This T makes out at 2".

Alot of the "glow" is some effects from the flash. I admit those though are some of the brightest T's I have right after a molt though. Also, in some species, the male T's seem to be extra showy. I was acutally disappointed to find out my P. platyomma is a female. The males of that speices are bright metallic purplish/pink.

It still makes for some great pictures tho. So when will you be acquiring this male. Purplish pink spiders (even if they're spiders) are pretty cool. I have a bit of an arachnid issue, but I can still appreciate what beautiful animals they can be.

I don't think I"ll be obtaining one anytime soon, I have no plans to breed that species. Also, I have discovered that the urticating hairs on that species are the worst out of my entire group, so it's cut back on my enthusiasm for that particular genus a bit.

I can link you to a picture of a male though.

Beauty shots as always - you have once again inspired me to get some updated shots of my many-legged boarders.

Do you catch a lot of kicked hairs from your new worlders? My b.smithi is by far the worst but admittedly the my pool of Ts pales by compare lol.

Re: Some new T shots (dial up death)

It's usually not to bad. I have gotten haired once by the male Boehemi. I headed for the shower immediately after that one. I wear disposable gloves if I have to rehouse anybody. Btw, if you set up your Hap in a deep burrow setup, (well you won't see it too much) but it won't freak out to much at ya.

I also wear gloves if I'm trying to sex a molt. I hang out on a couple of invert boards and long term exposure to the hairs seems to increase the reaction to it. I want to be able to keep my "oh so itchy" pretty new world species for a long time.
