Where should I get my mice from?

I have been feeding my bp f/t mice since I've gotten him and he takes them well. However, I have been getting them from petco and am wondering if there is a better place to buy f/t mice, or is Petco reliable enough? Thanks

If you can afford the upfront cost and have the freezer space you can buy in bulk online. The shipping costs can be steep, but if you bulk up you can keep them in your freezer and have a supply for months. There are a few very reputable sites, I use perfectprey.com

Another option is to buy from a reptile expo if there's one in your area. Again, it would be bulk, but save on shipping costs.

Either way, it's WAY cheaper than the big box stores and better quality.

Maybe reliable, but way too pricy for me.

I don't think where Petco/PetSmart gets their f/t rats and mice from kill them ethically. I used to buy from those pet stores and when the rodent was thawed out the whole head and some of the body would be soaked in blood, like it was killed from being smashed around.

Now I get from a small, family owned pet shop that kill them with CO2 and when thawed out not one bit of blood on the rat.

There's also in some sites, forgot which, but free shipping when your purchase goes over a certain amount. Good for buying bulk.

I get mine from the local reptile show. RodentPro is always there. I believe we have to pay sales tax, but no shipping charge. I got 25 xlarge mice for $22.

You're better off going with someone like bigcheese.com or perfectprey.com. You'll save money by ordering in bulk vs going to a pet store to get a few at a time. I try and avoid Rodent Pro whenever possible because the quality continues to be sub par and the packaging is terrible compared to the other vendors. The only time I go to Rodent Pro is if I need extra small pinkies because they are the only ones who carry them.

I'm also a big fan of Perfect Prey. Big Cheese is good too. After a few bad experiences I don't recommend Rodent Pro anymore.
