    Twins.......almost......

This clutch of nine eggs was laid back in April. There are nine eggs in there....some are buried. One egg went bad a week or so into incubation. I would have removed the egg but it was stuck to four or five other eggs so I opted to let it cook.

When they pipped, one guy came racing out.....his egg was buried in the back under that rotten one. He couldn't wait to get out from under that stinking egg

I also noticed I had what appeared to be twins.....but something was wrong.....twins are usually much smaller....from their heads alone they appeared to be of normal size.

After some poking around, I figured what the little buggers were up to. One of the babies from a bottom egg pipped through to the egg directly above.

    Pretty neat!

    Re: Twins.......almost......

I was wondering how you could 'almost' have twins. Still a really cool picture though. That little guy underneath must have wanted out bad, especially if he had to go through his egg and a siblings egg. Some kids just gotta do things the hard way.

That's AWESOME!!! .... I had a hatchling crawl into a siblings egg this year. When I looked in the morning I thought I had "big" twins too! ... Then I found the empty egg and counted all the heads!!

Great story Joe! ... I love hearing about stuff like that.

    Hey Everyone,

Joe that is really interesting. Twins would definitely be an exciting first thought! That was a clever little bugger, full speed ahead LoL!

    Take care,

Geesh Adam I grew up in a big family and there's just some mornings where you're chilly in your bed and big sister's all snuggled up in hers and ya just gotta go steal some heat!

Very unique picture Joe, that's got to be one for the books!

I had that happen last season. The whole clutch hatched except for one slow poke. I checked on the the little guy the next morning and it wasn't in it's egg.....nor in the incubation container. I was thinking I had an escapee.....until I gave all the eggs a poke. The little bugger crawled out of one egg and into another.

Full sized twins would have been cool......but I take normal healthy hatchlings any day of the week

Nice twins! That must be such an exciting thing to see. It would be awesome enough to me, to have some hatchlings, but twins just takes the cake.
