how long can you keep brazilian rainbow boas out of their enclosure?

i'm still trying to decide what kind of boa i want and i'm trying to factor in everything. i already know that brazilian rainbow boas require a lot of humidity, but how long can you handle them before they want to go back into their humid enclosure?

Mine want to go back to their enclosures/hides pretty quickly but I think that's more because they don't care much for handling versus they want the increased humidity.

That said, I had one escape and go on an unauthorized slither-about for three weeks with no ill effects. I found him drinking from a bowl of water I'd put on the floor of the snake room.
