My dragon is digging/moving his sand

So just noticed this afternoon that my boy is digging around his sand like he's trying to burrow himself...any insight on this behavior? Temps and husbandry is on point....he's never done that before

Sure he isnt a she? My girl just laid 2 clutches of eggs and did the same thing. Has yours quit eating or slowed down a lot? Constantly dropping little pees and poops? Generally restless and always digging? If you havent, should probably give her a lay box. Sometimes if beardies dont feel comfortable laying eggs, they can retain them and become egg bound which would need vet help.

I'm sure of it, he had the two bulges on his tail that are side by side....But he hasn't had much interest in his greens or eat as many crickets as he normally would...I'm lost on this one.

I was just about to ask the same thing, mine just laid 2 clutches as well. As a side note, if given deep enough substrate a beardie will burrow like most other lizards. When you say temps and husbandry is on point what are your current temps, cage size, how old is the animal, how long have you had it, etc?

90/100 75 gal tank, we've had him since march this year, he's 22 inches long nose to tail and at 220g....not completely sure about his age, he was literally 4-6 inches at most long when we got him.

Is the tank uncovered glass all the way around? If so he may not feel secure, you could try covering 3 of the 4 sides up to see if that calms it down. I also have a warmer hot spot for mine. I provide closer to 110 degrees F. Like I said before he may just be digging to dig. My beardie has about 6 inches of substrate and burrows all the time.

yea back and sides are covered, ill try adding more substrate
